Feed the Need 2007

Gunter, Texas, is beautiful this time of year. Leaves are beginning their annual change of color and the cool chill that’s in the air promises that coats and scarves won’t be put away much longer. It’s the time of year that screams for a bowl of chili and a warm mug of cider. For some though, even our neighbors, this time of year brings anxiety and worry.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2000, Gunter had a population of 1,230 people. Of those, 6.2 percent were living below poverty level. As you know, Gunter is an expanding community, and while the population is growing, so is the need to help those who are underprivileged. You don’t have to look far in the Gunter city limits to see the need is here. It is right under our noses and in our backyards.

This need has been a growing concern in our lives, as we are sure that it has in yours. We desire to help meet the needs of the hungry in our community. Can you help us? Feed the Need is a program that has been developed to help our community feed our neighbors during the holiday season. From October 14 to November 10, boxes will be strategically placed throughout Gunter for people like you to place nonperishables. On November 10, from 8am until noon, businesses, churches and the Gunter community can bring their collected food to the old Elementary School parking lot for drop off. We need your help in hosting a box site and encouraging those around you to participate in Feed the Need . You can be sure that all the food we collect will be used in Gunter. Likewise, we need your help in locating names and addresses of those who are in need. We don’t want to leave any legitimate needs unattended. It’s our goal to raise enough canned goods to Feed the Need in Gunter, Texas. Thanks in advance for your help!
